Community Information on Puerto Rosales Terminal Expansion

Safety tips for boaters:

To navigate the estuary safely, it is essential to:

  • inspect the vessel before departure, ensuring all required safety equipment is functional (life jackets, fire extinguishers);
  • check weather and navigation conditions and keep documentation up to date;
  • the Argentine Naval Prefecture establishes maritime safety regulations and recommendations, including respecting restricted areas and crew responsibility.

On board:

  • carry vessel registration and navigation permits, as well as approved life jackets for each passenger;
  • ensure the bilge system is working properly, there are no fuel leaks, and fire extinguishers are charged and accessible;
  • do not exceed maximum passenger capacity;
  • do not consume alcohol or drugs while operating the vessel;
  • ensure proper engine ventilation before starting to prevent fires and store fuel in ventilated areas; use gas detectors when using onboard cylinders.

Other recommendations:

  • notify the yacht club or marina of departure and return times;
  • follow instructions from the Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA) and navigate carefully in restricted or swimming areas;
  • practice water sports only in designated areas.

Safety tips for swimmers:

  • swimming is not permitted within the operational area of the OTAMERICA Maritime Terminal;
  • the Argentine Naval Prefecture recommends entering the water only in areas with lifeguard stations; extra care should be taken with children and all posted safety signals must be followed;
  • for windsurfing and kitesurfing, always wear a life jacket and appropriate safety equipment, avoid navigating near fishing piers or swimming areas, and do not sail with offshore winds;
  • for canoe, kayak, and rowboat users, notify the nearest authority of departure and return, check weather forecasts before departure, and ensure the hull is watertight; minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
