OTAMERICA Argentina reaches a new logistics milestone with the arrival of its first Suezmax vessel

OTAMERICA’s terminal in Puerto Rosales achieved a new milestone in national energy logistics by receiving the Seaways Pecos, the first Suezmax-class vessel to operate at the company’s newly inaugurated dock.

With a length of 274 meters, a beam of 48 meters, and sailing under the Marshall Islands flag, the Seaways Pecos is operated by U.S.-based International Seaways and will load 114,000 cubic meters of crude oil from Vaca Muerta destined for the United States.

This operation formally inaugurates the new dock’s capacity to receive large vessels, as part of OTAMERICA’s expansion developed through a US$600 million investment. This milestone anticipates a new phase for Puerto Rosales as an energy export hub meeting international standards.

The maneuver has been carefully planned and is expected to proceed normally. It has been designed under international safety protocols and executed in coordination with the Argentine Naval Prefecture, pilots, and regulatory authorities.

The expected volume will mark a record for single cargo loading at Puerto Rosales and represents a qualitative leap in the country’s logistics operations.

Since June 28 to date, OTAMERICA’s terminal has already completed 12 export operations, with four more expected before the end of the month, reflecting growing activity at the upgraded port hub.

This development will not only reduce logistics costs and eliminate transshipment but will also increase the competitiveness of Argentine crude in key markets, optimizing the value chain from production fields to export destinations.

The expanded infrastructure includes a new 2,000-meter dock with two operational berths, a pumping station, an electrical substation, and automation and safety systems aligned with international standards. In terms of storage, the fourth 50,000 m³ tank is already operational, and tanks five and six will be completed in August, bringing total terminal capacity to 780,000 m³.

Puerto Rosales is thus consolidating its position as one of the country’s main energy hubs, with a direct impact on sector competitiveness and regional economic development.
